Let’s look at some history.

Ang nakakatawa rito, tinanggal na nila 'yung sinulat ni Walvoord noong 1957 na: "There is no teaching of any intervening event."

“…is as current as today’s news … and every prediction rings true.”

Pamilyar ba ang linyahan? Siyempre! Ganyan na ganyan din ang eksaktong marketing catchphrase na ginamit nila noong 1974 para sa first edition ng Armageddon, Oil, and the Middle East Crisis. Dahil mabenta ang ganitong hula-hula books, Walvoord went on to write another book entitled Major Bible Prophecies: 37 Crucial Prophecies that Affect You Today.

Dito na pumasok ang matinding logical contradiction. Walvoord repeatedly taught his students and readers over the years na kapag sinunod mo nang tapat ang Kasulatan, makikita mong walang kahit anong signs na ibinigay bago ang Rapture. It is supposed to be imminent pwedeng mangyari any moment, signless, at walang abiso.

J. F. Strombeck (First the Rapture): Sabi niya, dapat asahan ng mga Kristiyano si Jesus "at any moment."

Paano naging "at any moment" 'yun?

Pero sa parehong libro, bigla niyang sasabihin na: "Since 1948 Israel has been gaining in power... The Bible prophesies this will happen."

Isang Mas Maayos at Mayamang Pananaw (Preterist Perspective)

Answering Toughest Objections Against "Postmillennialism"

Victory in History

Let’s dive deep into the Word using historico-grammatical hermeneutics, pero explain natin sa paraang maiintindihan kahit ng bata.

The Big Illustration: "The Messy Room"

Imagine may isang batang nagngangalang Adam.

May power ako at cleaning tools (The Gospel & Holy Spirit). Tutulungan kita.

He cleans the mess before He wraps up history. The Gospel is powerful enough to fix the world.

Q&A: Answering the Toughest Objections

Q1: "Pastor, sabi sa 2 Timothy 3:1, 'in the last days perilous times will come.'

The Short Answer:

The Exegesis (Hermeneutics):

Tingnan natin ang Greek. Ang phrase na "Last Days" (eschatais hemerais) sa New Testament ay madalas tumutukoy sa "Last Days of the Old Covenant Age," hindi last days ng planet Earth.

Sa Hebrews 1:2, sabi ng author: "Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son." Nagsalita na ang Anak noon. So, noong 1st Century pa lang, "last days" na ng Jewish Age.

Context Clue: Sa verse 5 ng 2 Timothy 3, sabi ni Paul kay Timothy: "from such people turn away!"

Today, we are in the era of the expanding Kingdom (Isaiah 9:7).

"The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:7 (CSB)

Q2: "Pero paano yung Great Tribulation sa Matthew 24? Di ba darating pa lang 'yun?"

The Short Answer:

Tapos na 'yan. The Great Tribulation was the judgment on Apostate Israel noong AD 70.

The Exegesis:

Balikan natin ang "Time Indicator" ni Jesus.

Matthew 24:34: "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation (genea haute) will by no means pass away till all these things take place."

At nangyari nga! Within 40 years (isang generation), winasak ng Roman armies ang Jerusalem. It was the "greatest tribulation" for the Jewish nation na nag-reject sa Messiah.

Comparison:

We are now in the time of the Great Commission, not the Great Tribulation.

Siya ang 'god of this world' (2 Cor 4:4) di ba?"

The Short Answer:

Satan is a defeated foe.

The Exegesis:

Yes, tinawag siyang "god of this age" (aion), pero tingnan mo ang sinabi ni Jesus pagkatapos ng resurrection Niya:

Matthew 28:18: "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."

Ilang authority? ALL.

1 Corinthians 15:25: "For He [Jesus] must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet."

Note the verb tense: He is reigning now (present active), at unti-unting pinapatumba ang mga kaaway (process).

The Big Advantage: Postmillennialism vs. SDA Eschatology

FeatureSDA Eschatology (Great Controversy Theme)Postmillennialism (Victorious Gospel)
View of HistoryPessimistic.
EvangelismFear-based. "Sumunod ka kasi malapit na ang Sunday Law at Time of Trouble."Faith-based. "Sumunod ka kay Christ kasi Siya ang Hari at binabago Niya ang mundo through love and justice."
CultureIsolationist. "Be the salt and light."
The EndDefeat.
Pastoral Closing Challenge

Maging matapang tayo. Magtrabaho tayo. Let’s build families, businesses, and communities that honor God because we know that our labor is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58).

The world is not ending anytime soon; it is being mended.

Former Adventists Philippines Official Statement: The Victory of Christ and the Hope of the Church!

Here is a draft of a "Statement of Faith on Last Things" tailored for your Former Adventists Philippines (FAP) ministry. In the future, it is envisioned that the church will bear the proposed name Grace New Covenant Church Philippines, Inc.

This is written to be theologically robust yet accessible, specifically targeting the fears instilled by SDA theology (such as the Time of Trouble and the Sunday Law) and replacing them with the hope of the New Covenant and the victory of Christ's Kingdom.

FAP Official Statement: The Victory of Christ and the Hope of the Church
A Declaration on Eschatology (Last Things)
Preamble: From Fear to Faith

We believe that the study of the End Times (Eschatology) should not produce fear, anxiety, or a "survivalist mentality." For too long, many of us were held captive by a theology of doom, anticipating a "Great Time of Trouble," persecution, and a flight to the mountains.

We reject the fear-mongering of Last Generation Theology. Instead, we embrace a biblical optimism rooted in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We hold to a Partial Preterist understanding of prophecy, a Postmillennial hope for the world, and a New Covenant framework for living.

1. The Great Tribulation is Past (Partial Preterism)

We believe that the "Great Tribulation" mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 24 was not a prediction of a future end-time persecution of Sabbath-keepers, but a specific prophecy regarding the destruction of the Old Covenant Temple and the city of Jerusalem in AD 70.

The "End of the Age": When the disciples asked about the "end of the age" (Matt. 24:3), they were asking about the end of the Jewish Age (Old Covenant era), not the end of the physical cosmos.

"This Generation": Jesus clearly stated, "Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened" (Matt. 24:34). We believe He meant the generation of His contemporaries, who witnessed the judgment on Jerusalem.

Freedom from Fear: Therefore, we do not expect a future "Jacob's Time of Trouble" or a global "Sunday Law" persecution. These were fulfillments of God's divorce from Old Covenant Israel, not a threat to the New Covenant Church.

2. The Identity of the Beast and Antichrist

We reject the futurist speculation that the "Beast" or "Antichrist" is a future world leader or the Papacy enforcing Sunday worship.

Historical Context: Consistent with the Partial Preterist view, we identify the "Beast" of Revelation primarily as the Roman Empire (specifically under Emperor Nero), which persecuted the early church.

The Number 666: We understand 666 as a gematria (number code) pointing to Nero Caesar, a first-century reality, not a future microchip, barcode, or Sunday law decree.

3. The Victory of the Kingdom (Postmillennial Hope)

We reject the pessimist view that the world will get worse and worse until Jesus rescues a tiny remnant. We believe in the power of the Gospel to transform the world.

The Leaven and the Mustard Seed: As Jesus taught, the Kingdom of God grows gradually but pervasively (Matt. 13).

Christ is Reigning Now: Jesus is not waiting to reign; He is currently seated at the right hand of the Father, putting all enemies under His feet (Psalm 110:1; 1 Cor. 15:25).

The Success of the Great Commission: We believe the Great Commission will be successful. Through the preaching of the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit (not political force), the nations will eventually be discipled, and the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord.

4. The New Covenant and the Law of Christ

We believe that the Church is governed not by the Mosaic Law (Old Covenant), but by the Law of Christ (1 Cor. 9:21; Gal. 6:2).

No Investigative Judgment: We reject the SDA doctrine of the Investigative Judgment (1844). Believers are not being scrutinized to see if they are "worthy." We are accounted worthy solely through the imputed righteousness of Christ.

Sabbath and Salvation: The weekly Sabbath was a shadow of the rest we now have in Christ (Col. 2:16-17). We are not under the Ten Commandments as a covenant document. Our guide for holiness is the New Testament teaching of love and the Spirit, which calls us to a higher standard than the letter of the law.

5. The Second Coming and Resurrection

While we believe the "judgment on Jerusalem" (AD 70) was a spiritual coming in judgment, we strictly hold to the orthodox belief in a future, physical, and visible Second Coming of Christ.

At the end of history, after the Gospel has permeated the nations, Christ will return physically to resurrect the dead, execute final judgment, and usher in the New Heavens and New Earth in their fullness.

Pastoral Reflection for the Former Adventist

The SDA Great Controversy theme taught us to be victims waiting for persecution. The Gospel teaches us that we are victors in Christ! The Kingdom is advancing. Don't waste your life preparing for a 'Time of Trouble' that already happened in AD 70. Spend your life advancing the Kingdom of Love today."

Question: Alin sa mga end times theology ang may pinaka-strong biblical basis, lalo na yung New Covenant Theology na parang may halo ng old at new covenant?

Bakit nagmumukhang may "Halo"?

A. Partial Preterism (Strongest sa "Time Texts")

Matthew 24:34: "This generation will not pass away..." Napakahirap baliin nito.

Advantage sa Former SDA: Tinatanggal nito ang takot sa "Sunday Law," "Microchip/Mark of the Beast," at "Great Tribulation." Bakit?

Bibllical ba ang SDA End-Time Events?

Sinasabi nila dito na sa second coming, mamamatay lahat ng masasama, tapos magbabakasyon ang mga banal sa langit for 1000 years. Pero tanungin natin: nasaan sa Bible ang idea na iiwan ni Jesus ang mundo na walang tao for a thousand years? Wala.

“You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

“He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.”

Kung may “pangatlong pagbabalik,” e di nagiging tatlong advents si Jesus which destroys the whole “once and for all” finality ng Kanyang return.

Sobrang speculative nito.

Ibig sabihin: heaven and earth unite. Hindi hiwalay hindi na “langit or lupa,” kundi “heaven on earth.”

Summary:

  • Ang “1000 years” = symbolic reign of Christ now.

  • Ang “second coming” = one-time, glorious return, not divided into two or three stages.

  • Ang “new heaven and earth” = eternal state, not a gap between comings.

Pastoral reflection:
