Victory in History
Alam ko na para sa marami sa atin na galing sa Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) background, ang Postmillennialism ay parang "too good to be true." Sanay kasi tayo sa "Doom and Gloom" yung tipong papasama nang papasama ang mundo bago dumating si Jesus.
Pero ano ba talaga ang sinasabi ng Bibliya? Let’s dive deep into the Word using historico-grammatical hermeneutics, pero explain natin sa paraang maiintindihan kahit ng bata.
The Big Illustration: "The Messy Room"
Imagine may isang batang nagngangalang Adam. Binigyan siya ng Tatay niya ng isang malaking mansion para alagaan. Pero nagrebelde si Adam, kaya naging sobrang gulo at dumi ng mansion.
Ngayon, dumating ang Kuya Jesus (ang Second Adam) para ayusin ang problema. May dalawang paraan para tingnan ito:
The Escape Plan (SDA / Premillennial View): Sasabihin ni Kuya Jesus, "Grabe, sobrang dumi na dito! Wala na tayong magagawa. Hayaan na lang natin masira at masunog ang mansion, tapos ililikas (rapture/rescue) na lang kita papunta sa ibang bahay sa langit." Ito yung mindset na talo ang Gospel sa history kasi kailangan ng "emergency exit."
The Restoration Plan (Postmillennial View): Sasabihin ni Kuya Jesus, "Adam, akin ang bahay na 'to. May power ako at cleaning tools (The Gospel & Holy Spirit). Tutulungan kita. Lilinisin natin ang bawat kwarto isa-isa hanggang sa maging malinis at maganda ulit ang mansion para sa pagbabalik ni Tatay."
Sa Postmillennialism, hindi susuko si Jesus sa kalat. He cleans the mess before He wraps up history. The Gospel is powerful enough to fix the world.
Q&A: Answering the Toughest Objections
Q1: "Pastor, sabi sa 2 Timothy 3:1, 'in the last days perilous times will come.' Di ba proof 'yan na papasama ang mundo?"
The Short Answer:
Mali ang timing na nakagisnan natin. Ang "Last Days" na tinutukoy ni Paul ay hindi 2026, kundi ang panahon nila noon (1st Century).
The Exegesis (Hermeneutics):
Tingnan natin ang Greek. Ang phrase na "Last Days" (eschatais hemerais) sa New Testament ay madalas tumutukoy sa "Last Days of the Old Covenant Age," hindi last days ng planet Earth.
Sa Hebrews 1:2, sabi ng author: "Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son." Nagsalita na ang Anak noon. So, noong 1st Century pa lang, "last days" na ng Jewish Age.
Context Clue: Sa verse 5 ng 2 Timothy 3, sabi ni Paul kay Timothy: "from such people turn away!" (Iwasan mo ang mga ganyang tao).
Logic: Paano iiwasan ni Timothy ang mga tao sa "last days" kung para sa atin pa pala 'yun sa future (2000 years later)? Patay na si Timothy noon! Clearly, ang instruction ay para kay Timothy sa panahon niya.
Reflection:
Yung "perilous times" ay nangyari na bago ang destruction ng Jerusalem noong AD 70. Today, we are in the era of the expanding Kingdom (Isaiah 9:7).
"The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:7 (CSB)
Q2: "Pero paano yung Great Tribulation sa Matthew 24? Di ba darating pa lang 'yun?"
The Short Answer:
Tapos na 'yan. The Great Tribulation was the judgment on Apostate Israel noong AD 70.
The Exegesis:
Balikan natin ang "Time Indicator" ni Jesus.
Matthew 24:34: "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation (genea haute) will by no means pass away till all these things take place."
Sa Greek, ang genea (generation) ay laging tumutukoy sa mga taong nabubuhay sa oras na iyon. Hindi ito "race" o "future generation."
Sabi ni Jesus, ang mga kausap niya mismo ang makakaranas noon. At nangyari nga! Within 40 years (isang generation), winasak ng Roman armies ang Jerusalem. It was the "greatest tribulation" for the Jewish nation na nag-reject sa Messiah.
Comparison:
Ang SDA view ay naghihintay ng "Time of Trouble" (Jacob's Trouble) sa future. Nagdudulot ito ng takot. Pero sa Postmillennial view, ang "Great Tribulation" ay nasa rear-view mirror na natin. We are now in the time of the Great Commission, not the Great Tribulation.
Q3: "Kung nananalo ang Gospel, bakit parang ang lakas pa rin ni Satanas? Siya ang 'god of this world' (2 Cor 4:4) di ba?"
The Short Answer:
Satan is a defeated foe. Nakatali na siya, pero nagpupumiglas pa. Don't give him credit na hindi na sa kanya.
The Exegesis:
Yes, tinawag siyang "god of this age" (aion), pero tingnan mo ang sinabi ni Jesus pagkatapos ng resurrection Niya:
Matthew 28:18: "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
Ilang authority? ALL. Kung na kay Jesus na ang lahat ng awtoridad sa lupa, ilang porsyento ang natira kay Satanas? Wala.
Si Satanas ay gaya ng isang asong nakatali (bound). Nakaka-kagat lang siya kung lalapit ka sa range niya, pero hindi na siya ang may-ari ng bahay.
1 Corinthians 15:25: "For He [Jesus] must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet."
Note the verb tense: He is reigning now (present active), at unti-unting pinapatumba ang mga kaaway (process).
The Big Advantage: Postmillennialism vs. SDA Eschatology
Ito ang "Game Changer" kung bakit mas biblical at mas healthy ang Postmil kaysa sa SDA view:

Pastoral Closing Challenge
Mga kapatid, bilang dating SDA, sanay tayo na mag-focus sa "Antichrist," sa "Mark of the Beast," at sa takot. Pero ang focus ng New Covenant believer ay si Christ the King.
Huwag tayong maging parang yung bata na naghihintay na lang sunugin ng Tatay ang bahay. Maging matapang tayo. Magtrabaho tayo. Let’s build families, businesses, and communities that honor God because we know that our labor is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58).
The world is not ending anytime soon; it is being mended.
