Former Adventists Philippines

Official Mission & Vision Statement
Our Identity, Purpose, and Strategy
February 13, 2026

Our Mission:
To foster a welcoming and supportive community for former Adventists in the Philippines, providing a safe space where members can share their journeys, encourage one another, and engage in open, respectful dialogue about their experiences.
Our Vision:
To establish a thriving network where former Adventists in the Philippines find understanding, meaningful connection, and the resources needed for continued spiritual and personal growth, ultimately fulfilling Christ's Great Commission by making disciples and proclaiming the gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith.

I. Introduction

Former Adventists Philippines (FAP) exists by God's providence to serve those transitioning from Seventh-day Adventism into the freedom of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This ministry was birthed not from human ambition but from God's calling, rooted in the testimonies, questions, and struggles of those earnestly seeking biblical truth.

We are committed to proclaiming the sufficiency of Christ, refuting unbiblical doctrines, and discipling believers toward active membership in healthy, Gospel-centered churches.

II. Origins and Leadership

In September 2019, God began gathering small groups of former Adventists through online discussions, home Bible studies, and open conversations addressing essential matters of faith:

  • The true nature of the Gospel
  • The meaning of the Sabbath under the New Covenant
  • The biblical identity and mission of the Church
  • The spiritual path forward after leaving Adventism

Founding: Pastor Ronald V. Obidos officially founded Former Adventists Philippines in 2019 as a ministry and online community primarily serving Filipinos transitioning out of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church. What began informally evolved into a comprehensive Bible-based teaching, discipleship, and apologetics ministry.

Mission Focus: FAP was not established to attack Seventh-day Adventists but to rescue, restore, and rebuild former members, helping them become mature Christians rooted in Scripture, devoted to the local church, and equipped to serve others.

Milestone: The ministry will celebrate its 7th Anniversary on September 12, 2026, marking years of faithful service to those seeking theological clarity and Gospel freedom.

III. Core Ministry Functions

1. Partnership with Local Churches of Former Adventists

FAP collaborates with established congregations composed primarily of former Adventists:

  • New Covenant Christian Fellowship (NCCF) – ParaƱaque City – Pastor David Sabaupan
  • Missions Bible Church – Guadalupe, Makati – Pastor Christian Levin Advincula

These are fully functioning local congregations offering regular preaching, baptism, communion, and pastoral care. FAP assists transitioning believers in connecting with these churches or other Gospel-centered congregations in their area.

Expansion: Plans are underway to establish a physical church building in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, transitioning the ministry from primarily online community to a robust local church body, tentatively named Grace New Covenant Church of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

2. Support for Adventists in Transition

Many within Adventism begin questioning core doctrines, including:

  • The 28 Fundamental Beliefs
  • The prophetic authority of Ellen G. White
  • The Investigative Judgment
  • The binding requirement of Sabbath observance

FAP walks alongside these individuals, sometimes for months or years, guiding them from confusion to clarity, from fear to freedom, and from legalism to grace. The ministry provides a platform for theological discussion, apologetics, and support as individuals re-examine SDA doctrines through evangelical and Reformed theology.

IV. Theological Framework

Theological Transition

The ministry facilitates movement from an SDA framework to New Covenant Theology, addressing:

  • Law vs. Grace – Understanding the believer's relationship to Mosaic Law under the New Covenant
  • The Sabbath – Recognizing the fulfillment of Sabbath rest in Christ
  • The Investigative Judgment – Refuting this unique SDA doctrine through biblical exegesis
  • Ellen G. White's anti-gospel teachings

Doctrinal Perspectives

FAP advocates for theological positions, including:

  • Reformed Arminianism regarding salvation
  • Partial Preterism and Postmillennialism regarding eschatology
  • Continuationism regarding spiritual gifts

These perspectives guide our teaching and discipleship approach as we equip believers with sound biblical theology.

V. Ministry to the Wider Evangelical Church

FAP is not an exclusive fellowship for ex-Adventists but an active member of Christ's broader Body, contributing to its growth and health:

Education and Equipping

Conducting seminars, Bible studies, and producing resources to help churches:

  • Share the Gospel effectively with SDA members
  • Refute SDA doctrinal errors biblically
  • Understand the historical context of Ellen G. White
  • Guard against legalistic Sabbatarianism

Apologetics and Evangelism

Training Christians to answer SDA claims using Scripture, church history, and sound theology.

Content Creation and Digital Ministry

FAP maintains a robust online presence across multiple platforms:

  • Blog: formeradventistph.blogspot.com – featuring theological articles, testimonies, and apologetics resources.

  • Real Talk Reflection – Devotional messages designed to inspire believers toward deeper faith, stronger love for God, and compassionate service to neighbors. Each reflection offers spiritual insight and practical encouragement for gospel-centered living.

  • Investigating Adventism Podcast – A gospel-centered dialogue platform critically examining Adventist doctrines, traditions, and history. It blends scholarship with accessibility, offering clarity on complex theological issues through respectful, truth-driven conversations.

  • eBooks – Including titles such as 25 Seventh-Day Adventist Questions About Sunday Answered and the SDAs Answered Verse by Verse series, available at ko-fi.com/ronaldobidos.

  • Social Media – Active presence for community building, education, and outreach

Bridge for Integration

Helping evangelical churches welcome and disciple former Adventists unfamiliar with Gospel-centered preaching, regular communion, and fellowship free from Sabbath controversies.

VI. Vision, Mission, and Strategy

Vision:
To see former Adventists across the Philippines rooted in the Gospel of grace, thriving within biblical churches, and equipped to disciple others in truth and love.

Mission:
To expose false doctrines of Adventism, proclaim the sufficiency of Christ, and disciple transitioning SDAs into Gospel-centered local church membership.

Strategy – REAP:

  • Rescue – Reach those under legalism through online presence, personal relationships, and evangelism
  • Educate – Teach sound biblical theology via verse-by-verse refutations, seminars, and study materials
  • Affirm – Integrate believers into healthy local churches, fostering fellowship rather than isolation
  • Prepare – Train future leaders, pastors, teachers, and missionaries from among former Adventists

VII. Call to Partnership

Former Adventists Philippines is more than a ministry; it is a long-term movement dedicated to raising mature, Gospel-rooted, Christ-exalting believers from among those leaving Adventism. Beyond online debates and apologetics, we are actively growing into a local church body with expanded physical presence and deeper community impact.

We invite pastors, churches, and individual believers to partner with us in proclaiming the true Gospel, exalting the supremacy of Christ, and declaring the freedom of the New Covenant.

"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." – John 8:36
