Question:

Answer:

Good question at ito madalas itinatago ng SDA leadership sa mga miyembro. Ellen G. White, though she never used the exact words “6,000 years and Jesus will come,” clearly taught and implied that the plan of redemption would close at the end of about 6,000 years of human history. Many of her contemporaries, including Uriah Smith, J.N. Andrews, and early SDA pioneers, believed we were nearing the “end of 6,000 years” in the 19th century, meaning Christ should’ve returned by now.

Fast forward: we’re now way past the 6,000-year mark, even conservative biblical chronologies (like Ussher’s) place Creation around 4004 B.C., which means the world hit 6,000 years over 20 years ago. Yet life continues, and Jesus hasn’t returned.

So what does that mean? Simple: Ellen White’s timeline-based prophetic expectation failed. If her “6,000-year close of probation” idea were truly divinely inspired, it should’ve matched reality. Instead, time exposed it as another human speculation.

The truth is, Jesus Himself said, “No one knows the day nor the hour” (Matthew 24:36). The apostles never tied Christ’s return to a 6,000-year countdown; that idea came from medieval Jewish and early millennial traditions, not Scripture.

So to answer plainly:

Ellen White’s 6,000-year prediction is not biblical prophecy; it’s a failed human assumption wrapped in prophetic language.

Ang totoo, the Lord’s timing is not measured by man’s calculations (2 Peter 3:8–9). Hindi siya late tayo ang mali sa pag-aakala.
