Question:

Answer:

“And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Now, SDA theology teaches that this refers to a heavenly sanctuary being “cleansed” starting in 1844  the so-called Investigative Judgment.

Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Context muna.

  2. The Hebrew term “nitsdaq” (translated “cleansed”) actually means to be restored, vindicated, or made right, Hindi “atoned for” or “investigated, judged.” So mas tamang translation ay:

“Then shall the sanctuary be restored to its rightful state.”

Yung court scene ay nasa Daniel 7 (the Ancient of Days).

  4. Even SDA scholars admit this tension. In SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 4, p. 843, may nakasulat:

“The word translated ‘cleansed’ (nitsdaq) may also mean ‘to be restored’ or ‘vindicated,’ indicating that the sanctuary would again be rightly recognized.”

“Having made purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:3)

So to wrap it up: The “sanctuary” in Daniel 8:14 refers to the Jerusalem temple desecrated by Antiochus, which was later restored, not a heavenly building awaiting judgment. The true cleansing was already fulfilled in Christ’s atoning work.

The good news? Hindi mo kailangang hintayin ang 1844 para mapatawad. The cleansing is already finished. “It is finished” (John 19:30).
