“SINS ONLY FORGIVEN BUT NOT BLOTTED OUT" : THE 1844 INVESTIGATIVE JUDGMENT DILEMMA!

 

The following dialogue is a transcript from a video clip by the John Ankerberg Show in 1985. This a controversial dialogue between the late cult expert, Dr. Walter Martin, and William Johnsson, a former Adventist Review editor. This portion clearly illustrates the real dilemma that exists with the Adventist doctrine of the 1844 investigative judgment. They teach that Christ's sacrifice on the cross provided only the forgiveness of sins, not the blotting-out or cleansing of sins. The blotting-out of sins will only take place after 1,183 years on October 22, 1844!

This article will show that Ellen G. White (EGW) was a meat and oyster eating "health reformer" and that she deceived her followers into believing that she practiced health reform, and all the while she was feasting on meat and oysters.

During my many years as a devout Seventh-day Adventist, I believed that the writings of Ellen White gave me an “inside track” to heaven.  I was the privileged possessor of writings that unmasked Satan’s end-time deceptions and infallibly pointed the way toward salvation.  I was grateful to Ellen White for revealing the errors of the “once-saved-always-saved” crowd, and for upholding the seventh-say Sabbath as the final test dividing the sheep and the goats.  I thought I could pass this final test since I already knew the answer.

"ALIN ANG TUNAY NA IGLESIA?"

    Ang true church ay hindi ang alinmang nakikitang denominayson, religious organization, kundi , ito ay kalipunan ng mga taong may tunay na mananampalataya at sumasamba sa Diyos araw-araw sa “espiritu at katotohanan” (Juan 4:24, Gawa 2:46). Ayon sa diwa ng Biblia, ang mga mananampalatayang ito ay matatagpuan sa iba’t-ibang churches, denomination at religion sa buong mundo. Diyos lamang ang nakakakilala kung sino-sino sila (2 Tim. 2:19).

    Sila yung tinatawag na “iglesia ng mga panganay na nangatatala sa langit” (Heb. 12:23). Ang true church na ito ay binubuo ng mga taong tiyak na ang kaligtasan dahil ang pangalan nila ay nakasulat na sa “aklat ng buhay” bago pa itatag ang sanlibutan (Apoc. 3:5; 17:8). Tanging ang Diyos lamang ang pumili sa kanila sa pamamagitan ng kanilang pananampalataya sa Kanyang Anak na si Jesu-Cristo at hindi batay sa kanilang gawa, mabuti man o masama (Roma 9:11; 11:5, 6). 

Ang true church na ito ay naligtas na at inaring-ganap na ng Diyos dahil sa kanilang pananampalataya sa gospel o evangelio tungkol kay Cristo (Roma 10:17) bago pa sila umanib sa alinmang religious denomination para sa ikalalago ng kanilang panampalataya(Gawa 2:46, 47). 

Makikilala natin ang true church hindi sa 28 Fundamental Beliefs o dahil sa Daniel and Revelation Seminars kundi, tanging lamang ang gospel tungkol kay Cristo at ang isa ng kanyang kamatayan sa krus (John 14:6; Roma 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 15:1-5) Ang gospel na ito ang “siyang kapangyarihan ng Dios sa ikaliligtas ng bawa't sumasampalataya” (Roma 1:16).

This question is just part of a long list of queries from my Adventist friend Butz Rodelas. It also took me a long time to answer and I thought I would gradually post these questions to keep the readers from being bored because of their length. Later I will also publish the full version in an e-book format that anyone can download. Butz Rodelas’ questions are interesting and challenging, the kind of question that I waited for a long time, so I prefer to have my answers detailed and well documented for the benefit of those who are Adventist thinkers who have a passion for truth. Tanong ito ng isang kaibigang Adventista na nakasama ko noon sa ministry sa Visayas. Hanggang ngayon ay nagkakausap pa kami ngayong hindi na ako Adventist. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OLD & NEW COVENANT?

An understanding of the concept of covenant is fundamental to a right interpretation of the whole Bible and it is absolutely imperative to a correct understanding of the Sabbath and the Sinaitic Covenant. 

MATTHEW 5:17: HOW DID CHRIST FULFILL THE LAW?

INTRODUCTION

During my 24 years as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church, I have defended it in the field of public debate and media ministry that the observance of the Sabbath day is still a command that Christians must obey under the New Testament. I used many passages in the 27 books of the New Testament to prove that the commandment concerning the Sabbath had not yet been changed. But since I understood the truth about the gospel and salvation only through Christ and accepted Him as my personal savior and Lord, God changed my perspective on the Sabbath. I am enlightened by the teaching of the Bible that the commandment concerning this is only part of the Old (Sinaitic) Covenant rituals between God and Israel. Now the fact that Christians are not under the Old (Sinaitic) Covenant has become clearer to me. Instead, we believers in Christ are already living in the New Covenant of God and it includes all people (not just Israel) on another basis of what Christ has done on the cross at Mt. Calvary, not Mt. Sinai anymore. I will share in this ebook the result of my studies that helped me understand the truth I had never seen before in the light of the gospel. I pray that this humble study material will be of great help to you and your growth in the grace of God for His glory!
