It's clear that God wanted the Sabbath to be a blessing to the Israelites, both physically and spiritually.

Hindi tayo required. In dealing with this subject, there are several points we have to understand:

Ang Sabbath Law, just like the rest of the Law, ay binigay specifically para sa Israelites sa ancient times.

During the earthly ministry of Jesus, the people obviously lost the real meaning of the Sabbath, which was to "rest." Instead of a blessing, this became a burden for them! Kaysa pahinga naging mabigat na obligasyon pa. That's why Jesus needed to correct the people at that time that "the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mk 2:27). The religious leaders regarded the Sabbath as an end in itself. Christ emphasized that this day was made specifically for man’s benefit, and so man's need must be prioritized over the Sabbath’s law (Matt 12:1–14; Mk 2:23–3:6; Lk 6:1–11; Jn 5:1–18).

The Sabbath rules strictly prohibited working on the Sabbath; Jesus worked during Sabbath (Jn 5: 17-18; Lk 13:10–17). Truly, Jesus was the end of the Law (Rom 10:4)-- including Sabbath. Ang pag-observe ni Jesus sa Sabbath (Lk 4:16) ay hindi indication na we should follow it also. He followed the Sabbath dahil si Jesus ay born under the Law (Gal 4:4), unlike sa atin. To require believers today to observe Sabbath, the way it was instructed, ay paglalagay ng unnecessary burden na kahit ang Lord of Sabbath ay hindi naman binigay!

At dahil dumating na ang dapat dumating dahil naparito na si Jesus, the "shadow" was no longer binding and needed.

Such as offering ng two lambs in addition sa regular burnt offering (Num 28:9-10). Prine-present din dito ang twelve loaves of showbread (Lev 24:5-9). Wala na ang Temple ngayon to accept such offerings; pader na lang ang natira! Also, bukod sa written Law (Law of Moses) the Jewish rabbis and scribes added more rules sa Sabbath sa kanilang oral law (Shabbath, xii.3-5)! Imagine, kung gaano karaming rules mayroon just to keep Sabbath!

A modern-day believer who wants to keep the Sabbath the way it was instructed must be familiar with all these rules in order to follow each one of them. "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it" (James 2:10).

Christians considered Sunday (the first day of the week) as the Lord's Day. It doesn't mean na ang Sunday na ang Sabbath nila, but rather they considered Sunday as a special day to worship together bilang church (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor 16:2). John also mentioned the Lord's Day sa vision niya (Rev 1:10). This was based on the resurrection of Jesus on Sunday (Jn 20:19; Mk 16:2; Matt 28:1; Lk 24:1).

Historically, ang mga early Christians ay hindi na rin nag-observe sa Sabbath because they were not required to observe it. This could be supported by the letters ng mga early church fathers. The Epistle of Barnabas (70-132 AD) stated na they kept the Lord's Day (Sunday) dahil sa araw na ito nabuhay ulit si Jesus (15:9). Also, Ignatius in his Epistle to the Magnesians, mentioned that they we're not observing Sabbath but the Lord's Day (9:1). Sinabi rin niya na kung sila man ay sumusunod pa rin ng Law then hindi pa sila nakaka-receive ng grace.

Those who believe in Christ entered that rest (Heb 4:3). True Sabbath is found in Jesus. And He invites everyone to find rest in Him (Matt 11:28-30).
