Good question, and actually, that’s one of those classic SDA-style overreaches na parang gusto nilang gawing moral law ang cultural expression.

Let’s be clear: wala ni isang Bible verse na nagsasabing ang pagsusuot ng singsing o hikaw ay automatic tanda ng idol worship or slavery. Ang issue sa Bible ay the heart, not the hardware.

In Genesis 24:22, si Abraham’s servant nagbigay ng gold ring and bracelets kay Rebekah as a sign of blessing not idolatry. In Exodus 32, yes, may ginamit na gold jewelry sa paggawa ng golden calf, pero ang problema doon ay yung puso na sumamba sa diyus-diyosan, hindi yung alahas per se.

At saka, sa Luke 15:22, nung bumalik ang prodigal son, the father said, “Put a ring on his finger.” Hindi iyon tanda ng pagkaalipin, kundi restoration and honor!

So no, hindi totoo yung sinasabi ng mga Sabadista na ang singsing o hikaw ay inherently masama. Ang legalistic thinking na ganyan ay bunga ng Old Covenant mindset yung paniniwala na holiness ay nasa panlabas na anyo. Pero under the New Covenant, holiness is an issue of the heart and lifestyle, not accessories.

Ang tanong dapat: “Am I wearing this to glorify myself or to honor God?”

If your motive is pure and your conscience is clear before the Lord, then you are free in Christ (Galatians 5:1).

Bottom line: jewelry doesn’t make you worldly; pride does.
