Good question and fair din, kasi madalas talaga ‘yan ang tanong ng mga nagtatanggol ng literal Sabbath. Pero kung titignan mo nang mabuti ang context ng Colossians 2:16–17, malinaw ang sinasabi ni Paul:
“Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.”
Ayan mismo, sinabi ni Paul na ang Sabbath ay shadow (anino) — at ang substance (katawan o realidad) ay si Cristo.
In short, hindi mo kailangang hanapin ang literal word “Christ is the Sabbath” kasi sinabi na ni Paul mismo in concept: the Sabbath was a foreshadowing of Christ. Kung ang anino ay naglalarawan lang ng isang bagay na mas totoo, ibig sabihin, ang totoong Sabbath ay natupad na kay Jesus.
Kaya nga sa Matthew 11:28, sinabi ni Jesus:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
